The Ancestral Fractal

“You carry away with you a reflection of me, a part of me. I dreamed you; I wished for your existence. You will always be a part of my life. If I love you, it must be because we shared, at some moment, the same imaginings, the same madness, the same stage.”                                                                                                                                    - Anaïs Nin Before the bones there were the dream of bones and with the arrival of bones came the root of ancestry. According to the Vedanta the dream state is where the living soul ( jivatma ) is to itself its own light. As a self contained and self expressive ligh...

Finding Self in Darkness

“ "We have in fact entered upon the final phase of this Kali Yuga, the darkest period of this dark age, the state of dissolution from which there is to be no emerging except through a cataclysm, since it is no longer a mere revival which is required, but a complete renovation." – René Guénon The Modern World is signified by great accomplishments, great wars, great advances in material science and the spirit of greatness seems to be the force that flows through the fabric of society and create ideas of greatness where no greatness is to be found. The spirit of greatness encoded in the political playground takes the shape of glorification of democracy. The glorification of the democratic model comes with subtle ideologies that in silent ways misinform shapes and condition the population into believing in greatness they may or may not have in the name of equality. Today everyone is encouraged to follow whatever star they fancy to follow, if they have the skill, cal...

The Dual Sphere of Becoming One

Our experience of the world is one of benevolent and malevolent experience and we always use our self as the measure. When we use our self as a measure for what is good and bad we turn experience static and we embody dogma. Some say that this is only natural because some of us are left brained ruled and others right brains ruled. This is bogus; the corpus collosum is the bridge between that unites the divide and rescues us from seeing the world in black and white. Some says that it is because of the structure of the brain we have this dual experience, but I believe the brain is an expression of an empyrean and far older dichotomy and not the source of dualist experience. The dualist experience enters into our life whenever we seek to separate the same from the other and here, in this fundamental grace of living so many of us takes a million wrong turns and makes separations and taxonomies between a private life and a sacred life, a mundane life and a secret life. The dualist ex...

This; Our World

I say it a lot, our world is a marketplace. And it is. We make our trades and deals, meet crooks and partners, friends and charlatans. Good moments spills over in bitter moments as tears turns into riddles and despair into laughter – and of course all reversed...  as your brilliant laughter makes the canvas of a silent kill in your back or somewhere else... We are inside our own dramas always and we constantly insist on not being the authors of these dramas. After all we all seek to be the hero in our own journey, in our own life, so to accept that we were the rock in the road towards a temporary downfall in our own life is often difficult to cope with. When this happens we feel we are losing control of our life, naturally, as we have stumbled into confusion and become dethroned from our own life. These moments are glyphs of miracles. Because they show to us that we are not alone, no matter how much we would like to be alone, rather everything is connected and control lost ...

The Dwelling of the Witch

The icon of the witch is enigmatic and it is supposed to be enigmatic. People of the world respond to enigmas in various ways. Some gets intrigued, others get annoyed and frustrated. Yet others pursue it as a challenge while others see it is a mindfuck and leave it alone. An enigma invites ambiguity and possibility, because an enigma is a riddle and has as purpose to puzzle. No matter the kind of resistance I have with the term ‘witch’, given its multiple interpretations and also in this confused plurality need to accept that this ambiguous label is mine to hold. I am a lover of paradox, because I believe it is in paradox and dispersion, contradiction and battle truth speaks with her tongues of air from the deep waters of her well. What is a witch? Is it a social rebel or is it someone who has deep ecologic concern for the earth? Is the witch someone who can strike you down in malefic workings or someone who made a pact with the minions of Hell?  Is the witch someone who ca...

The Veneration of the Birds of Night

I believe Witchcraft is a poetic – and noetic – reality.   A dramatic poetry with tangible effects on the world... Awo  Fálàdé is of the opinion that witches should be left alone to do what they are assigned to do, that the path towards this potency is to rocky, ruddy and potentially harmful. And indeed a power that represents paradox, tension and love, conflict and cooperation, comes with its challenges.   Fálàdé thinks that these forces should at best be appeased, never worshipped, but always be respected and recognized. He is here speaking of Ìyàmi Osorongà and the àjés. Ìyàmi Osorongà, ‘the Mother of the power of transformation that sounds around in the worlds’, is also known as Ìyàmi Eleye, The Mother of the Birds (emphasizing nocturnal birds). We find here a paradox and a contradiction in all possible levels. Ìyàmi Eleye is representing the power of woman in the shape of otherness and this power can take the shape of àjé, which are potencies anchored to our emot...

The Devil in Witchcraft

In his book about Balkan Traditional Witchcraft Radomir Ristic gives us evocative imageries of the nature of the witch as someone who has a relationship or liaison with some spirit vested in demonic clothing. The connection with this spirit enables the spirit to make marvels and wonders, to fly out at night and behave in ways that sets him or her apart from the ordinary world. He or she is someone who sees beyond the veils of day and night and see what is. Ristic is also adamant in disclosing that at the root the idea of the witch we find a Bogomil theological concept. The Bogomils believed in One God, but they also believed in his emissary and vicar, Satanael. Hence we have the concept of the two Tzar’s, the golden Tzar of Heaven and the silver Tzar of Earth. His exposition on these mysteries also found its way to the anthology of Traditional Witchcraft, Serpent Songs where he concludes that the Bogomil influence made the ‘ways of the grandmothers’ to survive – it was this way t...
